The short version

I don’t want to spam you, sell your information, or collect a weird little dossier about you.

If you give me your email because you want SugahStar updates, that’s what I’ll use it for.

If you contact me, I’ll use your information to answer you.

If you buy something or leave a tip, the information needed to make that happen will be used to make that happen.

I’m an artist, not a data broker. Pretty simple. 💜

The information I may collect

Depending on what you do on the site, I may receive information such as:

Your email address if you join the mailing list;

Your name, email address, and message if you contact me;

Information needed to complete a purchase, tip, or other transaction;

Basic website activity and analytics collected automatically by Bandzoogle or other services used on the site.

I don’t ask for more personal information than I need.

The SugahStar mailing list

If you sign up for my mailing list, I am not going to flood your inbox just for the sake of sending emails.

I’ll email when I actually have something worth telling you about, such as:

A new song, album, or release;

A major project update;

A show or event when those become a thing;

Something special happening on the website;

The occasional announcement I genuinely think you might want to know about.

That’s it. No daily “HEY REMEMBER I EXIST?!” emails. Your inbox has suffered enough.

You can unsubscribe whenever you want using the unsubscribe option included in mailing-list emails.

If you unsubscribe, I’ll stop sending you promotional mailing-list messages. You may still receive necessary emails connected to something you specifically requested, such as a purchase or transaction.

Purchases and tips

If you buy something or leave a tip, payments may be processed through third-party services such as PayPal, Stripe, or other payment providers supported by the website.

Those companies may receive the information necessary to process your payment. I do not need or want access to your full credit-card or banking details.

Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.

Bandzoogle

SugahStar.com is built and hosted using Bandzoogle.

Bandzoogle provides features used by the site, including hosting, mailing-list tools, forms, music features, analytics, and other website functions. Information you submit through those features may therefore be processed through Bandzoogle as part of operating the website.

Cookies and analytics

Like most websites, SugahStar.com may use cookies or similar technologies for things such as:

Making the website work correctly;

Understanding how people use the site;

Remembering preferences;

Measuring website traffic and performance;

Supporting embedded or third-party features;

Some services embedded in or linked from this site may also use their own cookies or tracking technologies.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings.

Spotify, YouTube, social media, and other outside services

This website may link to or include content from services such as Spotify, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, and other platforms.

If you click one of those links or interact with embedded content, that service may collect information according to its own privacy policy.

Basically: once you wander through a portal to somebody else’s website, their rules apply over there.

What I do with your information

I may use information you provide to:

Send you updates you asked to receive;

Respond when you contact me;

Process purchases or tips;

Deliver something you requested;

Operate and improve the website;

Understand which music, pages, or projects people are interested in;

Prevent spam, fraud, or abuse;

I do not sell your personal information.

I also don’t hand your information to random companies so they can market things to you.

Information may be shared with service providers only when they need it to help operate the website, mailing list, payments, analytics, or other features you choose to use.

How long I keep information

I’ll keep information only for as long as it is reasonably useful for the reason it was collected or as needed for legitimate business, security, accounting, or legal purposes.

For example, if you stay subscribed to the mailing list, I need to keep your email address so I know where to send it.

If you unsubscribe, I won’t keep using your information to send promotional emails.

Your information is yours

I firmly believe your information belongs to you. Your data shouldn’t be treated like a product, sold off, or passed around to random companies so they can build a profile about you. If you share something with me, it should be used for the reason you shared it, not quietly turned into something else.

If you want to:

Know what personal information I have about you;

Correct something;

Be removed from the mailing list;

Ask me to delete information you submitted;

Ask a privacy-related question;

Depending on where you live, you may also have additional privacy rights under local law.

A note about children

SugahStar.com is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through the site, please contact me so I can address it.

Changes to this policy

The website is going to grow, which means the way it works may change too.

If I add new features that meaningfully change how personal information is handled, I may update this policy. The date at the top will always show when it was most recently updated.
